Dr. Thiery was born in Willmar, MN, where he graduated from high school. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Luther College in Decorah, IA. Following his graduation from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry, he married his wife, Jenny, and moved to Alexandria’s lakes area. Dr. Rick has been practicing dentistry since 1998. In 2011, Dr. Rick ventured out on his own and started Young at Heart Dentistry, where he and his great team enjoy working together.
Dr. Rick enjoys the long-term relationships he has built with his patients and looks forward to growing new ones every day. He loves the variety of what general dentistry has to offer, from a child’s first dental “happy” visit all the way to helping “grandma” transition to her new implant-supported dentures.
Dr. Thiery has been a member of the American Dental Association and a member of the Great River Study Club since 1999. This Club is a local affiliate of the Nationally renowned Seattle Study Club. This relationship has been instrumental in Dr. Thiery’s connections to other general practitioners and specialists as well as providing the highest level of continuing education.
Dr. Rick and his wife Jenny live on Lake Ida with their two daughters, Katelyn and Kendall, their yellow lab Lucy, and kitty Lilly Peaches. Dr. Rick and his family live for the summer lake life in Alexandria; being on the pontoon is their happy place. Dr. Rick and his lab also enjoy many fall weekends waterfowl hunting and pheasant hunting. Other favorites for Dr. Rick are working outside at home, exercising, playing cards, watching movies, swimming, vacationing, and playing an active role in Ducks Unlimited. One thing you may not know about Dr. Thiery is he enjoys his time in the kitchen cooking many of his family’s meals and cooking his wild game with his hunting friends.
Dr. Rick’s key to success is to make work fun. He wishes to extend a positive attitude to welcome you back each time. “Young at Heart” is truly the office attitude, not just a business name.
