Educational Moment

Educational Moment With Dr. Thiery

I often get calls from concerned parents who notice their child’s lower permanent incisors are coming in behind the baby teeth, and what we should do about it?

I will begin by saying these lower incisors are normally a child’s first experience with losing teeth, getting new permanent teeth and a first visit from the tooth fairy usually around age 6.

This has come up three times in the last 3 months, one of them conveniently at our house with our 6 yr. old Kendall. The following are a series of photos showing how fast these teeth can move and change in these little supercharged beings!

To summarize, in about 3 months a child can go from first tooth loss with permanents coming in significantly behind them to having everything looking nearly normal!! Amazing! We are always hear to answer any concerns, but I thought this was kind of cool how I randomly captured the progress with my iphone.
